Bird-dog this wave, bird-dog this reef Bird-dog this sand, bird-dog this clam Bird-dog this tan, bird-dog this tide Bird-dog this beach, bird-dog this break Bird-dog you Catchin’ first wave of day This private footwear hangs Whitewash below, I hang Ten and sky above, nice Swells are strong this morning Magnifying glass like water Mountains of rollers and spindrift Catchin’ third wave of day This private dick shoe Whitewash below Hang ten and sky above Bird-dog What’s that noise? It comes roiling in just like gunfireworks Never turn your back on the surf or you’ll get a tsunami in your posterior Never turn your back on Tsunami, Niagara, tidal bore, tsunami Blinded by a jellyfish in my mind’s eye Toss around like a ragdoll and spin out of control Torn up, ripped, sent overseas

Rise and shine, rinse off Where am I? Abandoned All alone, dumped by a wave In lands of green, it’s so foreign Walk on tall, for a while Play it by ear, talk the talk Off the beaten track Fallen through the cracks Get down to brass tacks Where’s the sea gone? Concussion Gotta get my head straight Ready, get set, go Set the record straight, set your mind at ease Set out, set sail, set forth, set free Set the world on fire, set the wheels in motion Set on, set off, set in, set out Set in concrete, set a thief to catch a thief Set great store by, set in stone On I roam and once in a blue moon I see a fort made of twigs and driftwood That’s when they catch you, that’s where they snatch you Taken in, into the stronghold, into their stronghold grips You’re probed and grilled, cross-examined That’s when they cut you, that’s where they gut your sole Into the stronghold, that’s where they gut you Give the third degree Set out, set sail, set concrete Throwing down the gauntlet Set forth, set free, set in stone A travesty of justice Set on, set off, set a thief Set the record straight Set your mind at ease Set in, set out You stole my sole On and off We go and stop It pours to drops and Longs for short end of sticks Taken in, wooden castle That’s when they catch you, that’s where they snatch you up and Probe and grill into your stronghold, into their stronghold grips You’re cross-examined root and branch That’s when they cut you, that’s where they gut your sole out, sole Into the stronghold, that’s where they cut your sole out As the twig is bent so the tree is inclined King of the castle

King Twig 02:51
Shade him in iron bars Sentenced to cells where the edges blend Chain him, gag him He’s handsome, pretty ransom Drag out his tongue What are these cells? Shaded iron The edges all blend into one another Up close they’re unique Pull away; they’re part of something bigger Shouldered by guards and tossed on the red A peasant cries; birds burst from pie A pointed yellow crown stares down at us Regain my liquid for his majesty Unknown shoe You’ve wandered in crisis and you know it’s national Feed the dog, turn the cog Workers drown their log You need thicker fog And I know how You’re gonna get it for me You know that I know that I have your sole I need aqua vita and you will find it all A sole for their spirits ‘cause their spirits ain’t in it and if they ain’t in it they’re not real wood Escape with demand On we go, waterless world, on we go On we go The universe is a discrete space made up of a dodecahedron with a twelfth face

Rolls Hills 02:22
Rolling hills, climbing hills, is there ever better life? Green meadows fall into sand but not for a while now Roll away like my first wave, fall to another day As quickly as it comes it fades Away, green wave, hang ten, yeah Nothing is better than eternal life But aqua vita’s better than nothin’ Vita is better than eternal life Magnum opus, thumbs up Sulfur, salt and mercury Time never smells slower than when you go venture out The black night of soul, the white dawn of knowledge and life The germ of life

Queen Daze 03:34
Come passing lover Welcome to Ishtar I heap favors Slip it in and sleep it out of me Out of time Wake on up You’re in a dreamland My little queen land Up, up in the dirt Where has all the sand gone? I could not tell you What’s this strange apparatus? I’ll put it inside you Slip it in - Let me show ya what’s inside ya Sleep it out - When’s inside ya comin’ out now? Abandon your quest I’m afraid I can’t do that Forgive the twig man Tanned genitals, I need water What of me? I’ve got sole I am all wet. Both moonstruck Dreams are sweet When you’re made of feet they are But when you’re a shoe It gets harder to discorporate Slip it out The aqua vita’s out of your reach Like a dream Over too soon and forgotten

about

The Gumshoe Chronicles is Dotorgan's first album. It tells the tale of a surfing private detective who also happens to be a gumboot. This P.I. is swept away by a monstrous wave into a foreign land of wooden people and corrupt royalty. After an encounter with a particularly sultry king, our hero’s sole is held for ransom and he is told that in order to regain his appendage he must recover the water of life. Along his journey, the young detective uncovers the truths of the ages and the futility of both academia and spirituality. So grab your mortarboard, or your Ouija board, and join us in the journey of a lifetime.
